Mike Millwood:
started the Loft in 1997 has been flying since 1986. He first
learned to Hang Glide then started took up paragliding in 1988.
He was one of the leading xc pilots on the south coast. He doubled
the british record in 1989 from 20km to 43km. He went on to hold
the Devils Dyke, Ditchling and Steyning bowl site records.
Also he and mark Turner were the first paraglider
pilots to fly from Coombe Gibbet to the Isle of Wight, landing at
the original Airwave Factory. He also flew in the British team on
numerous occasions and regularly in the Paragliding Nationals (now
paragliding championships) until 1996.
Mike started working in the hang gliding and Paragliding
industry in '89 making harnesses and accessories, then went on to
repairing paragliders in the same year, taught by a professional
freefall parachute rigger, he then ran a workshop until 1995 when
he set up Airworks
with Tim King. This partnership lasted until '97. Then the Loft
was formed and moved to Dairy farm in '98. As he has been in the
business for over 14 years he is the most experienced paraglider
repair and service expert in the UK. Due to this we are approved
by virtually all the paraglider manufacturers and have worked on
more makes and models than any other repair centre in the UK. As
we have worked on so many gliders, we know what to look for on each
glider and what the specific problems may be.
